The Gold of the North
After a half-hour walk from our Bude54, you arrive at the Amber Museum in St. Peter-Ording. Here you will find a small, family-run museum with demonstration workshop and salesroom.
In the natural historical section of the museum, you can understand the way of the formation in the amber forest up to today’s distribution in Northern Europe based on the exhibits.
In the cultural historical part, the history of amber processing from the Stone Age until today is thematised.
Numerous display boards and information boards will show you the many facets and the impressive history of amber.
However, the pride…
…and joy of the Amber Museum in St. Peter-Ording is the so-called Inklusenkabinett. Here you can see more than 50 million-year-old amber with insect inclusions. Animals and also plants are forever encased in the fossil resin. You should definitely see this, because it is a real rarity.
The Amber Museum in St. Peter-Ording also offers some events that might be interesting for you. Every Monday, you can listen to a talk and take a guided tour through the workshop. Wednesdays, you have the possibility to work with your found or own Gold of the North and produce your own jewellery. That is a unique and very special souvenir of your vacation at the North Sea!
Back at the hotel, you can then proudly show us your finds or your self-made jewellery. We look forward to seeing you in the Bude54!
