Which Buden are approved for dogs?
At Bude54, dogs are welcome in five categories: Kleine Bude, Feine Bude, Family Bude and Große Bude. The categories Mini Bude, Chill Bude and Bude Plus remain completely allergy-friendly and dog-free. A maximum of two dogs may stay per Bude with prior registration.
Here you’ll find the right spot for your crew:
- Kleine Bude (approx. 18–20 m²): A cosy nest for two people with a dog. Equipped with a 180 cm-wide box-spring bed, balcony and modern shower room.
- Feine Bude (approx. 25–26 m²): Our all-rounder with noticeably more space. Plenty of room for a dog bed next to the box-spring bed, plus your own balcony for fresh sea air.
- Family Bude (approx. 46 m²): Home base for the whole family. A parents’ area with double bed, a separate room with bunk beds for the kids, two balconies, and lots of space for a dog basket and beach gear.
- Große Bude (approx. 46 m²): Open loft feel with plenty of freedom to move. With a double bed, pull-out sofa and two balconies, it offers enough space for up to five people and a dog.
Feel good after a beach run: Amenities for dogs and humans
A day on the North Sea leaves its mark on your dog’s coat. Our Buden are ready for it:
- Underfloor heating in the Bude and bathroom: After wet beach walks, your dog’s coat dries gently from below. Cold paws are a thing of the past.
- Walk-in showers: You can rinse off sand and salt water quickly and comfortably, without any climbing around.
- Private balcony: Every Bude has at least one balcony. There’s always a fresh breeze here while your dog dozes in shelter.
- Sound-insulated doors: The house stays pleasantly quiet. Your dog can sleep undisturbed without startling at every step in the hallway.
Together: Rules and costs for your dog
Registration and costs
We charge €20.00 per night for your dog. Please register your four-legged friend during online booking, as our dog-friendly Buden are limited. Assistance dogs stay free of charge. As we keep guaranteed dog-free Buden for guests with allergies, advance reservation is required.
Transparency matters to us: If a dog stays unregistered in an allergy-friendly Bude, we have to carry out a deep special clean using HEPA filters. We charge a special cleaning fee of €250.00 for this. So please simply register your furry friend when booking, so everything runs smoothly.
The living room in the morning: Breakfast and consideration
From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, we set up our breakfast buffet in the living room with fresh rolls from a local bakery, plus vegan and vegetarian specialties.
Dogs are not allowed in the living room itself. This is for hygiene reasons and ensures a calm, relaxed start to the day for all guests. During this time, your dog can keep sleeping in your familiar Bude.
If you’d rather enjoy your first coffee together with your dog, simply use our coffee flat rate: pick up your cup from 8:00 AM in the living room and enjoy it outside on your balcony.
Heading out: Dog beaches and walks in St. Peter-Ording
Bad beach section: The short way to the sea
From Möwensteg, you can reach the adventure promenade and the pier in the Bad district in around 400 metres. From there, the boardwalk leads directly over the salt marshes to the beach.
At the Bad beach section, you’ll find a designated off-leash dog zone. Keep an eye on the tides before you go: at high tide, the North Sea reaches close to the boardwalk in places, while at low tide an almost endless stretch of sand awaits you.
Leash requirement in the Wadden Sea National Park and off-leash areas
Throughout St. Peter-Ording and on the dikes, dogs must be kept on a leash to protect wildlife. For off-leash fun, two large marked dog exercise areas are available: at the Bad/Süd beach section and at the Ording Nord beach access. Here your dog can romp through the sand to their heart’s content.
Outside these marked areas, the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park begins right away. Sheep on the dikes and nesting seabirds in the foreland need peace and quiet – please keep your dog reliably on a leash there. Along the promenades and dike access points, you’ll find plenty of stations with dog waste bags.
Walks from Möwensteg without traffic
For a quick round in the morning or before bed, you don’t need to get in the car first:
- Through the pine forest: Right behind the dike in the Bad district, a wind-sheltered strip of woodland runs along. The scent of pine and soft forest floor are the perfect alternative to the windy beach.
- Along the promenade: On paved paths, you can go straight along the salt marshes with no road traffic.
Eating out in the Bad district: Dog-friendly restaurants
Bude54 is a B&B hotel. For a midday or evening bite, you’ll find plenty of places within walking distance in the Bad district. In most restaurants and stilt houses, well-behaved dogs are welcome guests – in summer on the terraces as well as indoors. Just ask us at reception between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM and we’ll share our favourite dog-friendly spots.

Right by the main entrance at Bude54, towels are available for your dog so you can rub wet or dirty paws clean as soon as you come in. For a fine sand rinse, use the walk-in shower in your bathroom. The underfloor heating in the bathroom and Bude then helps the coat dry gently from below.
